A Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is different from other federal student grants because it requires you agree to complete a teaching service obligation as a condition for receiving the grant, and if you don’t complete the service obligation, the 教授予 will be converted to a loan that you must repay, 有兴趣地.
How much will I receive?
The 教授予 Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.
As required by the Budget Control Act of 2011 (the sequester law), any 教授予 where the first disbursement is on or after October 1, 2020 and before October 1, 2025 requires a reduction of 5.70 percent from the award amount for which the student would otherwise have been eligible.
For 2024-2025, the adjusted maximum award is $3,772.

A student may receive up to $16,000 in 教授予s for undergraduate study, 最高可达8美元,000 for a 教授予-eligible master’s degree study.
教授予 Eligibility
To be eligible for a 教授予, you must do the following:
- 满足 basic eligibility criteria for the federal student aid programs.
- 完成 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)形式.
- Be enrolled at a school that participates in the 教授予 Program.
- Be enrolled in a 教授予 eligible program (see below).
- Meet certain academic achievement requirements (generally, scoring above the 75th percentile on one or more portions of a college admissions test or maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25).
- 收到 教授予 counseling that explains the terms and conditions of the 教授予 service obligation. You must complete counseling each year that you receive a 教授予.
- 签署一份 教授予 Agreement to Serve or Repay.

教授予 Service Obligation
In exchange for receiving a 教授予, you must agree to:
- Serve as a full-time highly-qualified teacher for four elementary or secondary school years at a school or educational service agency that serves low-income students;
- 教 在 向领域; and
- 完成 required four years of teaching within eight years after you graduate from or otherwise cease to be enrolled at the institution of higher education where you received your 教授予s.
- If you do not meet the requirements of your service obligation, all 教授予s you received will be converted to Direct Unsubsidized Loans. You must repay these loans in full, 有兴趣地 charged from the date of each 教授予 disbursement.
